Buried Dog-Sr.2-Jun.17

Healthy dog put down to be buried with owner in Virginia, US

Originated in Tibet and developed in China, the Shih Tzu is a toy dog breed with a soft and long double coat, weighing between four and seven kilograms. Emma, a Shih Tzu mix, was a healthy pet dog of a 67-seven-year-old lady who passed away in March in Virginia, US. The little dog was then sent to a local animal shelter to find a new home. However, the poor dog was taken away, euthanized, and cremated to be buried with the dead owner because of her last will.

It was a heartbreaking situation for the staff in the animal shelter who tried to persuade the will executors to save the dog’s life because she was healthy and would find a new home easily.

There is no legal problem killing pet animals according to their owner’s wishes in some states in the US because they are considered the owner’s property. However, even though the shelter’s staff had no choice but to hand Emma to the will executors, the vet who euthanized her could have declined the request. He or she might have thought if they hadn’t, someone else would carry it out anyway.

22 centuries ago in Emma’s homeland, Qin Shi Huan, the first emperor of China, was buried by thousands of terracotta sculptures to accompany him for his afterlife. Though pet animals may be just property of the owner legally, they aren’t sculptures.

It is not clear how old Emma was when she was put down, but she was healthy.

People look for jobs in big cities because they have more businesses, ports, transportation, and educational institutes.

As more people move into cities, the land prices rise, and taller buildings are constructed to accommodate new residents and businesses.

New systems are required to provide services, such as water, electricity, and trash collection and disposal to cope with the increasing population.

Also, traffic and air pollution problems caused by the increased number of cars on the streets have to be dealt with.

As more people live and work in large cities, these growing problems need to be solved.

I’m interested to work for/in a Non-Government Organization, or N.G.O. to help people in developing countries.

There are many people in developing countries who need help to get basic necessities, such as water, food, medicines, electricity and education.

Although the government of those countries is responsible to provide these necessities to their citizens, not all of them does or can do it enough.

I learned there are numbers of N.G.O.s that help those people in developing countries, such as Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.

They seem to play more important roles in the future as the population of developing countries increase for the next decades.

If I get a chance to work as a member of such organization, I’ll be happy to go anywhere to work for people in need for help.  (six sentences, 133 words)
