Writing-Sep 27

Think of something difficult for you. Why is it? What are the challenges or difficulties?
What should you do? Write your response in five to six sentences.
For me, it is difficult to start studying after dinner. After dinner, I usually enjoy talking with my family or watching TV together. It is fun and relaxing after a busy day, and it is difficult to finish. Also, studying or doing homework isn’t fun, especially after dinner. Even when I sit at my desk and try to study, I can’t help checking messages on my smartphone. I think I should turn off my smartphone and start studying right after dinner.
(6 sentences, 80 words.)

Summary-Sep 27

Write a summary in five sentences. Do not copy the entire clauses from the textbook.
Balancing the intake of the two types of fats, saturated and unsaturated, is essential for health.
Saturated fats, contained in meat and dairy products, could increase the risk of heart diseases, cancers, and even mental disorders.
Unsaturated fats, included in vegetable oils, nuts, and avocados, should dominate most of the daily fat intake.
Fatty acids, chemical compounds made from food fat, play a vital role in keeping physical and mental conditions in good shape.
Among fatty acids, omega-3 fatty acids, which are contained in canola, soy, walnut oils, and some fish, are the most essential to develop the human brain and also to help mental stability.

Little Ice Age-Sep 17

The Little Ice Age was a period of regionally cold conditions between roughly AD 1300 and 1850.
There were two phases of the Little Ice Age, the first beginning around 1290 and continuing until the late 1400s. There was a slightly warmer period in the 1500s, after which the climate deteriorated substantially, with the coldest period between 1645 and 1715.
During this coldest phase of the Little Ice Age, there are indications that average winter temperatures in Europe and North America were as much as 2°C lower than present-day.
