Write your response-Jul 28

Nature makes people feel relaxed. However, allocating the limited available space in a city for nature, sports, and playgrounds is a challenge.
If your city is planning to build a park, how much of the park’s available space should be given to nature?
Write your response in four to six sentences.
I’d propose more than half of the park be used for people to relax in nature.
Since a park is a public space, the majority of the space should be dedicated to a space where everyone can enjoy spending their time, and that is nature.
Also, there is little green space in cities even though nature gives people the chance to relax and refresh themselves.
We may need just enough space for people to walk, run, ride a bicycle, or just sit down to enjoy their time in nature in the park.
Furthermore, there already are enough facilities for art, sports, and other activities in and around the city.
Our new park should be a place where people can enjoy nature.

SDG 5-Jul 25

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. There has been good progress over the last decades: More girls are going to school, fewer girls are forced into early marriage, more women are serving in parliament and positions of leadership, and laws are being reformed to advance gender equality. Despite these gains, many challenges remain: discriminatory laws and social norms remain common, women continue to be underrepresented at all levels of political leadership, and 1 in 5 women and girls between the ages of 15 and 49 report experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner within a 12-month period.
- Globally, 750 million women and girls were married before the age of 18.
- In 18 countries, husbands can legally prevent their wives from working; in 39 countries, daughters and sons do not have equal inheritance rights; and 49 countries lack laws protecting women from domestic violence.
- In 46 countries, women now hold more than 30 percent of seats in the national parliament in at least one house.
Goal 5.1: End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere.
Goal 5.2: Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private environment, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation.
Goal 5.5: Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life
=> Write what Goal 5 is about, a fact/example, and a goal in three sentences.
The fifth goal of SDGs is to attain gender equality in all societies and opportunities.
There still are discriminatory laws, social practices, domestic violence against women, fewer representations in politics, and forced marriages.
By 2030, it is aimed to end discrimination and violence against women and girls and also to increase women’s representation in politics, the economy, and public life.

SDG 4-Jul 18

Education is a key to escaping poverty, getting a good job, and developing a career. Over the past decade, major progress was made towards increasing access to education and school enrollment rates at all levels, particularly for girls.
- Some 750 million adults, two-thirds of them women, remained illiterate in 2016. Half of the global illiterate population lives in South Asia, and a quarter lives in sub-Saharan Africa.
- About 260 million children were still out of school in 2018, nearly one-fifth of the global population in that age group.
- More than half of children that have not enrolled in school live in sub-Saharan Africa, and more than 85 percent of children in sub-Saharan Africa are not learning the minimum.
Goal 4.1: By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education
Goal 4.5: By 2030, eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and children in vulnerable situations
Goal 4.6: By 2030, ensure that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy.
=> Write what Goal 4 is about, a fact/example, and a goal in three sentences.
The fourth goal of the SDGs is to provide quality education to all children and youth to escape poverty, get good jobs, and develop careers.
Even though good progress has been made, 750 million adults still can not read or write, and 260 million children are still out of school, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
The 2030 goals include free primary and secondary education for all children, elimination of gender disparities, and literacy and numeracy among all youth.

SDG 3-Jul 11

[Goal 3: Global Health and *Well-being]
*well-being  the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy; welfare, health, happiness, comfort, safety

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages is essential to sustainable development. Currently, the world is facing a global health crisis unlike any other — COVID-19 is spreading human suffering, destabilizing the global economy, and overturning the lives of billions of people around the globe.
Before the pandemic, major progress was made in improving the health of millions of people. Significant strides were made in increasing life expectancy and reducing some of the common killers associated with child and maternal mortality. But more efforts are needed to fully eradicate a wide range of diseases and address many different continuing and emerging health issues. By focusing on providing more efficient funding of health systems, improved sanitation and hygiene, and increased access to doctors, significant progress can be made in helping to save the lives of millions.
Goal 3.1: By 2030, reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births.
Goal 3.2: By 2030, end preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age.
Goal 3.4: By 2030, reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.
=> Write what SDG Goal 3 is about and what is needed to improve health and well-being in three sentences.
The third goal of the SDGs is to improve health and promote well-being at all ages, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic.
More funding needs to be provided to improve health systems, sanitation, hygiene, and access to medical treatment
Specific goals include reduction of maternal mortality rate and elimination of preventable deaths of newborns and children.

SDG 2-Jul 4

Nearly 700 million people are hungry, or 9 percent of the world population, and increasing. 135 million suffer from severe hunger largely due to man-made conflicts, climate change, and economic downturns. The COVID-19 pandemic could now add 130 million people at risk of suffering starvation.
The majority of the world’s undernourished are still found in Asia and Africa. Also, an estimated 2 billion people in the world did not have regular access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.
Swift action needs to be taken to provide food and humanitarian relief to the most at-risk regions. Increasing agricultural productivity and sustainable food production is crucial to help relieve the perils of hunger.
Goal 2.1: By 2030, end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food all year round.
Goal 2.3: By 2030, double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers, in particular women, indigenous peoples, family farmers, and fishers.
=> Write what about Goal 2 and the world hunger situation in three sentences.
The second goal of the SDGs is to eliminate hunger and undernourishment, especially in Asia and Africa.
