Write the main ideas of the text in three sentences.

Until the 20th century, constructions of tall buildings were limited because people couldn’t climb up so high and the buildings were made of bricks and stones.
Two major inventions made it possible to build taller buildings, a strong vertical framework of steel beams and safety elevators.

Design problems to build tall buildings are space for elevators and necessity to bring things, air and electricity up and down in, and the safety against strong winds.

On March 31st, 1968, just four days before his death, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered the following brief speech.

We Shall Overcome.
Deep in my heart I do believe, 
We Shall Overcome!
Now I join hands often with students and others behind jail bars singing it.

Sometimes we've had tears in our eyes when we joined together to sing it, but we still decided to sing it.

Lord before this victory is won, some will have to get thrown in jail some more, 
but We Shall Overcome!
Don't worry about us, before the victory is won some of us will lose jobs, 
but We Shall Overcome!

Before the victory is won, even some will have to face physical death, but if physical death is the price that some must pay, 
to free their children from a permanent psychological death, then nothing shall be more redemptive,

Before the victory is won, some will be misunderstood and called bad names and dismissed as rebel-rousers and agitators, 
but We Shall Overcome!

And I'll tell you why
We Shall Overcome because the arch of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.
We Shall Overcome because Carlyle is right. 
No lie can live forever!
We Shall Overcome because William Collin Bryant is right. 
Truth crushed to earth will rise again!
We Shall Overcome because James Russel Lowell is right. 
Truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne. 
Yet that scaffold sways the future. 
And behind the dim unknown standeth God within the shadows, keeping watch above his own!
We Shall Overcome because the Bible is right! "You shall reap what you sow!"

And this with this faith, we will go out and adjourn the counsels of despair, and bring new light into the dark chambers of pessimism, and we will be able to rise from the fatigue of despair to the buoyancy of hope.

Oscar Pistorius, born 22 November 1986, is a South African sprint runner. Although both of Pistorius' legs were amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old, he has competed in events for single below-knee amputees and for able-bodied athletes.

After becoming a Paralympic champion, Pistorius attempted to enter able-bodied international competition, over persistent objections of the IAAF and charges that his artificial limbs gave an unfair advantage. Pistorius eventually prevailed in this legal dispute. At the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, Pistorius became the first amputee to win an able-bodied world track medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he became the first double leg amputee to participate in the Olympics when he entered the men's 400 meters and 400 meters relay races.

On Valentine's Day 2013, Pistorius fatally shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in his Pretoria home. He said he had mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder hiding in the bathroom, but he was arrested and charged with murder. At his trial the following year, Pistorius was found guilty of *culpable homicide. He received a five-year prison sentence for culpable homicide. In November, prosecutors asked the sentencing judge for permission to appeal the verdict. Permission was granted in December, and the case will next be presented to a five-person panel at the Supreme Court of Appeal.                    *culpable: guilty, liable, responsible

Do you think professional athletes earn too much? Why or why not?

I don’t think professional athletes earn too much money.

There are only a small number of athletes who become successful in professional sports or competitions.

They must have worked harder than others to be better and competitive to earn the fame and fortune.

Also, the time they earn a lot of money isn’t as long as ordinary jobs such as an office clerk, hair stylist or bus driver because of the physical limitation.

They need to make enough money not only to pay for their effort and performance but also for their retirement.

Professional athletes deserve to make enough money for their effort and life.
