Barcode-Sr.3-May 12

Write what barcodes are, how they work, and how they are used in four to six sentences.

A barcode is black and white lines that identify the manufacturer and product. 
It is printed or put on each item and used mainly at supermarkets to identify the item. 
When a barcode is scanned at the cash register, it identifies the item, and then the price information of the item is entered from the store computer. 
It not only increases the speed of checkout process but also helps the management to control the inventory of the merchandise.

  1. A bar code which contains many important imformation is useful technology.
    Just scanning the bar code on the item enters the correct price into the cash register.
    It can also memorize the price and how many items they sold.
    They just have to change the price in the computer when they sale on, and they needn’t count what they have sold.
    12 numbers and black and white lines of bar code are the patterns which have different imformation.
    Using the technology of bar code makes the work faster and easier.

    How bar code system works?
    Supermarket computer system has bar code date for each item in the store, and when the scanner reads the bar code, computer searches its memory and enter the prise into the cash register.
    Using the technology of bar code system make supermarkets more efficient.

    Bar code technology became available in 1974 to help grocery stores speed up the check out process.
    Just pick up an item and scan bar code, computer seaches matching bar code to enter the correct price into the cash register.
    The computers has in its memory the bar code and its price of each items.
    Bar codes are used many business, especially supermarkets.

    Clerks scan an item and computer system serch the memory and tell the correct price .
