William Shakespeare (1564-1616) 

Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. 

He wrote 37 plays, including tragedies like Hamlet, Othello, Romeo and Juliette, 

King Lear, Antony and Cleopatra, and Macbeth, which are considered some of the finest works in the English language.
