that make the Earth habitable for humankind because rainwater,
drinking water, weather, much of our food, and the oxygen in the air are
all ultimately provided and regulated by the sea.

of the excess

the climate system.
- Human activities warm and acidify oceans, and emit more and more carbon into oceans.
- Over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for
their livelihoods.
Goal 14.1: Prevent and reduce marine pollution, including marine debris and nutrient
pollution from land.
Goal 14.2: Manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant harmful impacts.
Goal 14.4: Regulate harvesting and end
overfishing, illegal, unregulated fishing,
and destructive fishing practices.
