Writing-Sr.2-Nov.18

Write a paragraph about good ways for families or students to relax.
Include a topic sentence, two or three supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.
Also, write at least one supporting detail (explanation/example) to one of the supporting sentences.

TS: Being with friends is a great way for students to relax.
SS-1: First of all, it is easy to be with friends because they know you well.
    <=SD You always have something to talk about.
SS-2: Also, with friends, you can laugh and have fun.
   <=SD Laughter is a good way to reduce stress.
SS-3: Finally, you can talk with friends about things other than school.
   <=SD Because school is a big part of our lives, students need a break from that topic.
CS: Spending time with friends helps students relax.

Write a paragraph about one way laughter is good for you.

1. Write a paragraph about one way that laughing is good for you. For example, does it make you relax? Is it good for your health? Give supporting information and examples.
or, 
2. Think of someone who makes you laugh a lot. Write a paragraph about why you laugh a lot with the person. Write about the situations that make you laugh and/or about the things the person does to make you laugh.

Begin your paragraph with a topic sentence (TS) that introduces your main idea.
Write two supporting sentences (SS-1, SS-2) with a supporting detail (explanation/example) for each SS.
Add a concluding sentence (CS) at the end of the paragraph.

(TS) My sister always makes me laugh a lot. 
(SS-1) She has a wonderful ability to tell a great story about everyday things.
        => For example, when we have dinner, she tells funny stories about her day. 
(SS-2) My sister also makes me laugh when we watch TV together. 
      => She pretends that she is an actress in a show, and says what the person is thinking but not saying. (CS) Her laughter always makes me happy.
