9:10 Blog Brief View of US Election
Task: In the United States of America, independency of each state must be
respected. While the number of representatives (435) is allocated by the
population, the number of the senators (100) is allocated evenly to each
state, two senators for each state. Even though the electors of the
presidential election are allocated by the population of each state, most of
the states adopts winner-takes-all rule, which assigns all the electoral
colleges of the state to vote for one candidate neglecting the votes for
the other.
Do you think this electoral college system is reasonable, well-balanced,
or fair to choose a very powerful leader of the nation, or choosing by popular
votes is a better way to elect the president?
